Just finished the second book of the Path to Ascendency series (Malazan), Deadhouse Landing. Kellanved and Dancer arrive in Malaz City. Also introduces Tayschrenn, Dujek, Dassem and Cowl! I won't mention any others or it may spoil others' reading. Not brilliant writing but interesting to learn the back histories. Before this I read the complete 10 books of the fallen again and enjoyed them twice as much as before.

Just started Seventh Decimate - not finished the Prologue yet.

Glad to hear it, Murrin!

I'm in the middle of Black Legion, a Warhammer 40K novel.

Well, finished the Saga of Shadows. Mostly enjoyed, although if I have one complaint is that it dragged a bit. For the vast majority of book 2, the reader knows exactly what one of the solutions are, and I got a bit impatient waiting for the characters to figure it out. Ending was pretty good though, so overall a win I think.

Rereading Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid's Tale quickly. Bought it for the GF the other day and thought I'd read it again since it's been so long.

The Kings Justice by Stephen Donaldson. Standalone hardcover. Only about 35 pages in, (started late last night), but already looking pretty promising.

That's very cool, Avatar! It will be interesting to see your reactions to the two novellas when you check into the stickied discussion threads in the General SRD Discussion and Other Works forum once you've finished!

I'm getting an Insequent / Killing Stroke vibe from it so far. Very Happy

Enjoyed it. As with all SRD's short stories / novellas that I like, I'm left wanting so much more about the world that he just doesn't give.

Anyway, started The Auger's Gambit now.

Started The Refrigerator Monologues by Catherynne M Valente. Fridged women from superhero stories gather at the Hell Hath Club in Deadtown to tell their own sides of the story. Opens with a pretty clear Gwen Stacy analogue.

I was never a fan of Kyle Rayner (I'm a Guy Gardner..er...guy), and Major Force was a joke-type character over in the pages of Captain Atom. But shit got real in a hurry in that GL storyline!

So dumped Gardes of the Moon .. its all over the place and constantly changing characters .. if Erikson is worth reading it cant be from this book.

Its very fragmented and not engaging. Not connected to any individual character.
