Haha, yeah, just when you think they're un-reformable monsters, they come out with something like that. Very Happy

Hahaha .. Ive been quiet - had the kiddos visiting.. so made doing lots of other things challenging 😂

I love having them home .. but took me the best part of the morning cleaning up the devastation they invariably leave behind.

LOL

Yes, yes she is. Very Happy

Friday again. Always busy since it's a short day, and we're having a farewell party for one of our people today. Spent half yesterday interviewing people (which I hate), and a deadline for some stuff today too.

Better hurry up and do something productive. Very Happy

I've takin the Big Room Tour of Kartchner Caverns with my dad while he was visiting from Missouri, Sam (back in the year 2007). I quite liked it, but my dad turned out to not be a big fan of cave tours. He said it was from his teenage days when he got lost in a cave system. Apparently it scared the spelunking desire right out of him, which is a pity. But still like visiting caves, and Kartchner Caverns may be the best place in Arizona for such an experience.

Caves are fascinating. I've never been in a real one, but I've always wanted to go spelunking. That's probably a Really Bad Idea for multiple reasons. For one thing, I am severely claustrophobic. I have a good sense of direction. This may come as a surprise to people I play WoW with, because I'm somewhat infamous for getting lost in caves in-game. To the point where I have a character whose name is an inside joke for that. I don't think anyone but me gets the inside joke, and explaining it would be anticlimactic, but anyway. I get lost in caves in WoW. IRL I can always tell where North is. I get dizzy coming out of unfamiliar underground train stations for the first time - it only lasts a few seconds before my internal compass resets. I thought for a long time that was something that happened to everyone. Apparently not. I'm weird. And should probably avoid caves, fascinating though they are.

Hahahahaha .. I love caves and caving .. and I do NOT possess an internal compass .. funny cos I always believed I did .. but my DISorientation has proven me time and time again ... wrong Sad

Being much, much older now if I do go caving .. I do the very simple ones .. you know where you can actually stand mostly upright .. gone are the days of my crawling along on my belly through tight corridors and spaces.

I never used to be claustrophobic .. but there is nothing like finding you are wedged in a small crevice and cant go forward or backward to get the heart rate rising Laughing

We went to a cave system here just a couple of years ago .. and it was pretty awesome .. and in the heat of summer .. a super chill respite. We actually went to a concert that was held in the caves .. a string quartet playing light classical pieces .. It was truly magical.

There are some thermal springs Id like to visit .. a good 3 or so hours from us .. we did once make the attempt but we didnt have a 4 wheel drive then and it was pretty precarious.

Yeah, not much into caves. Don't mind being in them, but not a fan of the tiny crawlspaces etc.

My internal compass works fine outside, but I always turn the wrong way when coming out of a store in a mall. Very Happy

Monday again. Meh.

Nice relaxing weekend, just watched TV and played games and read, to the sound of the rain. Very Happy

Snow. Seriously. Snow. In central Illinois. It might be a bad year.

I take it that's unusual? Very Happy

Mild here, temps in the mid 20's and falling for the week. They say more rain on Saturday, but that's very far ahead in weather predicting terms, so will probably change before then.

I wouldn't mind seeing some snow, but I'm glad I don't have to commute in it. Now they're saying rain next week. We'll see about that.

I don't believe in snow. Very Happy Long since told the boss that if I ever wake up and there's snow on the ground, I won't be in that day. Very Happy

This city would shut down if it snowed. We can barely function when it rains, in terms of trains running on time and whatnot.

I once had an employee call out because it was raining. I tried to get a better excuse out of him, but he was adamant - just putting different inflections on it's raining. That was years ago, but I still think about that conversation and wonder if he thought he might melt.

LOL Yeah, we have the same problem with driving when it rains. Accidents go up massively. And traffic lights often go down in the rain too.

The reason I wouldn't come in if it snowed is because it would be carnage on the roads. Very Happy

Ah well, Friday again. The week has gone quickly.

My week off is nearly over. It was lovely. Just long enough to get pleasantly bored. We did visit Yankari, a state park with something of a safari, horrifying cabana rooms, but the most incredible warm spring. The water is always 31C (89F), crystal clear tinted turquoise, flowing as a river from beneath a sandstone cliff which constantly refreshes the bottom with white sand. It is gorgeous and never disappointing, unlike the safari on which you may or may not see any animals (we did luck out and see a herd of hippos on the move; usually they are hiding in the water from the tsetse flies) but you will definitely get eaten alive by tsetse flies and have to push the safari truck at some point. Did I mention tsetse flies? Smile Actually you can avoid being eaten alive by using bug repellent. DON'T FORGET THE BUG REPELLENT. (I used an herbal stuff which worked fabulously! I was serene while the DEET users were swatting.

I also got to enjoy the hammock I made recently. I laid out and read for hours. Even got the cat to join me for a while. Paradise.

Tomorrow we are going to visit the annual craft fair. It should be interesting to see if the Fulani still bring any Touareg silver and woven cloth... they were the nicest and most authentic stuff at the fair but the continual conflict in West Africa may keep them from coming.

Back to it Monday, but it was a good run!
