Hashi - Huff Post did a story on the Moroccan make up tutorial. the number of liberals defending this video was sickening. if this had been a video made in Alabama, I wonder if they would feel the same way.

I always have to laugh whenever a liberal defends Muslim culture. The average liberal thinks that people in Southern States conform to the stereotype--loud, obnoxious, overweight, beer in hand, either shirtless or a sleeveless a-shirt (commonly referred to a "wifebeater"), dislikes anyone not in their own ethnic group, and so on and so forth--but they do not apply this narrow thinking to Muslims. In the rural South, you might be bullied if you are a homosexual but at least you can't get put in jail for it like you can in a Muslim country and you certainly won't receive lashes in the public square for it. Another Saudi woman just recently received lashes for driving in public.

Perhaps if we had Morality Police patrolling the streets of our Southern cities like they do in Saudi Arabia then liberals would respect us more, but somehow I doubt it.

There is a homosexual couple who frequent the store where Ms. Lebwohl works. Oh, did I mention they are Muslim? They can get away with that here because their personal life is no one else's business. Something tells me they aren't gong to be traveling to any home country any time soon, though, at least not together.

I mentioned elsewhere the story of the woman in Pakistan who was convicted of "blasphemy" several years ago; two other women accused her of "defaming the Prophet" and that testimony, alone, was sufficient to sentence her to death, after which she spent 8 years in prison. The two accusers were Muslim, the accused is Christian, and the Muslim women refused to drink from the same container as a Christian.

Only recently, though, Aasia Bibi was released from prison and her conviction was overturned by Pakistan's Supreme Court. Now, though, there are violent protests in the streets in various parts of Pakistan with people calling for her execution, as well as the execution of the lawyer who represented her--he has already fled the country.

This is an example of the "religion of peace"--roving mobs seeking to kill a woman based on the tenuous, and most likely fabricated, charge of "blashphemy". The fact that blasphemy is even a crime says a lot about Pakistan.

Are all cultures still equally valid, liberals? Do you still support Muslims who are out looking to kill a woman?

Do you still think the United States is a bad place?

Ok first you are talking about an extreme example .. within a relatively barbaric and backward system of government.

I am friends with several Lebanese families .. who not only share their table with me regularly .. as Muslims but at a time in my Christian life, I needed a roof, they invited me to stay with them. They housed me, fed me and asked nothing of me. Since that particularly difficult time in my life, which I wont elaborate on we have remained close friends.

Your example is not typical of all religion. Most religious humans do I think genuinely seek to be kind, honest and genuine. Im NOT a religious human any longer but I have the greatest respect for goodness and good humans. You know people who live by their tenets.

Not all do of course .. Id say probably those are in the minority.

I think really the story serves to highlight just how backward and Old World much of the planet still is.

Blasphemy is illegal in parts of the West as well. I am pretty sure that I recall Germany and Canada both having blasphemy laws, which end up appeasing Mohammedans in effect.

That seems really odd and highly unlikely; I will disbelieve that until proof is produced to the contrary. Sure, there may be some really old laws which are still on the books but not enforced any more, but leaving blasphemy as a crime just seems really archaic to me.

In Germany, in February 2016 a man was fined 500 euro for displaying anti-Christian bumper stickers on his vehicle. Very Happy

Looks like a surprising amount of countries still have blasphemy laws on the books. Many not enforced, some officially repealed:

That is true .. we have a law the prohibits bathing in swimsuits that do not cover the entire body.

Sacrilege and desecration are still offences in many nations .. as to the bumper sticker thats insane. Free speech principles still exist .. thats taking PCness to extremes. Rolling Eyes

Errr whut? The entire body?

Seriously? In Oz?? The bikini's been banned? Or do you have to wear a lycra Burqa on the beach by law?

Is the below a photo of Bondi beach taken last week, then?

I think some extra detail would be in order...

Shocked

Blasphemy is still on the books in both Scotland and Northern Ireland, and is still illegal in Germany. All US blasphemy laws have been ruled unconstitutional (and have been gone for years).

Australia's anti-blasphemy laws are still on the books.
