I'm listening to The Obelisk Gate, the second volume of the Broken Earth trilogy by N.K. Jemisin. Really liking this series so far. |

I'm currently reading The Histories by Herodotus, which was written back in the day when the demarcation between the fantastic and the realistic wasn't all that clear. |

Just finished Magician:Master by Raymand Feist, and am about to start the final one in the trilogy (can't remember the name). How many of these series are worth reading? Anyone know? There are a lot of them. _________________ Roach trotted over to sniff at the gleaming phlegm, then licked it up.

So...that's actually just the first book. It was split up at some point.
Riftwar series is: Magician, Silverthorn, and A Darkness At Sethanon.
They're good, I like them, but I prefer the concurrent Empire series with Janny Wurts.
Happens at the same time as the Magician books, on the other side of the rift:
Daughter of the Empire, Servant of the Empire and Mistress of the Empire.
I really like those.
Then, there are the Riftwar Legacy books:
Krondor: The Betrayal, Krondor: The Assassins, and Krondor: Tear of the Gods
Then 2 set a bit later, Prince of the Blood and The King's Buccaneer.
Then, the Serpent War Saga, also pretty good:
Shadow of a Dark Queen, Rise of a Merchant Prince, Rage of a Demon King and Shards of a Broken Crown.
I skipped the Legends of the Riftwar trilogy and the Conclave of Shadows trilogy, then read the Darkwar Saga:
Flight of the Nighthawks, Into a Dark Realm and Wrath of a Mad God.
And I haven't read the Demon War Saga, (2 books) or the Chaoswar Saga. (3 books.)
But if I had to recommend just one series out of them all...it would be the Empire trilogy.

Thanks!!! I guess I may give the Wurts trilogy a shot next. I was a bit worried about that one. It seems weird to me that a guy writes one set of books, and then the next thing he does is write a collaboration in the same world, but if they are good, then I will have to check them out.
I'm getting into Silverthorne. It is solid, but I don't really love any of the characters in these books. They are pretty flat. But the stories are good, and have been surprising (to me, at least). Erikson comes up with more interesting characters in a single chapter than I've read to this point with Feist. _________________ Roach trotted over to sniff at the gleaming phlegm, then licked it up.

Well, it's not technically the same world...more like the same universe. But definitely worth it. As I think I might have mentioned above, I really enjoy them. I read them more frequently that the others. Actually think he benefited from the collaboration.
Lemme know how you enjoy them.

Most people were down on Midnight Tides, but it was one of my favorites from the series. I really loved Seren Pedac. _________________ Roach trotted over to sniff at the gleaming phlegm, then licked it up.

Rereading Kingkiller Chronicles and wondering how I could have forgotten how incredibly good the books are. Anticipating #3 in the series coming out in October. Supposedly.
When I'm done with it, #2 in the Malazan series is up next. _________________ Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle. -Philo of Alexandria
