Aminabhavin posed this question on another thread:
Quote:
another question: might it be possible, that everybody in the Land has his/her parallel existence in our world? they just do not know it? I already theoreticized (sp?) on it that the Creator is an ordinary chap in this world but at the same time a God for another

I recall, in the KW archives, that we once had a very interesting topic along these lines. So in Townfulosobitches USA who would you most identify a character from the Land with? Example: I believe Megan Roman is Lord Elena, and these are my reasons: She's a creep, She plays both sides, She's the only person who 1/2 way stuck up for him, She was the only woman 2 get within 20 miles of TC after Joan left and pre-LA....
Another neat topic, along this line is: WWCD? What Would the Creator Do? Take Amy's quote above: Does the Creator "assume" the form of the Beggar--just kinda boom-zam 'I am now suddenly mortal!' Does the Creator appear as a spiritual being? Or does he just inhabit the mind of some poor beggar? Along those lines--This is Creator Central--talk about ANYTHING concerns the Creator!!

Danlo, Im guessing you got WWCD(What would the Creator do) from WWJD What Would Jesus Do? Very Happy
Anyhoo, thats an interesting thought, the Creator wasnt just assuming a body of the beggar, but it was actually his body from "our earth". This theory could support the defeated theory that Covenant was Berek, that Berek was his "Land body"... or w/e. But in a fantasy book.....its possible lol Very Happy

Very Happy Exactly! Or Berek could be the bar singer's friend she kept refering 2 as 'Beren'--my vote 4 Lady Alif would b the bar singer! Don't kno y, gut feelin'. Cool So...are you also saying that the Creator gave birth to himself in the Land?

yeah I always had the impression that megan whatever her name is .. was Elena in our world .. cos TC thought she was ... and I thought wow .. how cool .. thats how it works .. but she just doesnt know it

But it turned out not to go anywhere ... so if it was SRD didnt explore it then and there ..

and I wonder if it does really work that way .. I never thought of the Creator being some beggar bum in our world .. but wise beyond measure .. I dont think it works like that..

If it did .. what of the rest of the population .. the Land population is far smaller than our world .. so what of the rest of our world .. they just the unlucky ones that dont get alternate existences? Or maybe they do .. but in other worlds ..

then would that make our world the main world .. the center of the Universe? .. I am not sure it works that way .. but echoing Mhoram .. it is fantasy and it could be .. Wink

seems too anomalous to be a sound theory .. imo .. but an interesting one nevertheless.

Perhaps the rest of the population of our world inhabit the rest of the Land's Earth - somewhere in our world there is an alter-ego for Kasreyn etc...

Anyway, does this mean LF has an alter-ego in our world? Joan perhaps? Very Happy

Perhaps TC's counterpart was Kevin - someone who matches TC's depths of despair and acceptance of his fate...someone who is willing to sacrifice his own life to win the ultimate victory over LF

Perhaps Joan/Atiaran...both burdened great emotional and ethical conflicts...both of them with their respective children harmed or threatened by TC (to Joan's eyes, Roger is threatened by TC's leprosy, and for all she knows might already have contracted leprosy......wouldn't that be an interesting twist? If Roger has Hansen's disease too...)

Now, its obvious IF every Land....inhabitant..... has his/her "alter ego" in our "Earth" they arent aware of it. Could it be....is the word incarnation? You know... the Hindi idea that every human becomes something else after his/her death? (someone tell me the word lol Im drawing a blank here White Gold) That could be it....but then again that defeats the Berek theory....help me out here..lol.

It seems we are away with the speculation fairies again!! Wink

lol

Re-incarnation being born again in a next life or even incarnation .. which would suggest that the inhabitants of the Land were not real or perhaps were not of substance but made real or subtantive in our world .. both dont really work ..

Then that (reincarnation) would suggest 'our world' is the next progressive level of existence or visa versa .. but TC LA and HT suggestedly occupied both existences concurrently in some form .. but clearly not in a conscious form ..

I think what danlo and amy are suggesting is that both worlds contain parrallel existences .. A Kevin in the Land and simultaneously .. a Joe Bloggs (Kevin) in our world ..

If that was true .. then who is HT's alter-ego in the Land that he now exclusively exists in? Or perhaps HT's alter-ego existed in some past time in the Land .. but then that gets a bit messy.

How would it work .. if TC's alter-ego in the Land is Berek (the most likely candidate - being also the ring bearer and half handed) .. but he existed generations before TC arrived in the Land .. then that would be more like Mhoram's re-incarnation theory and would fit better.

The parrallel existence theory cant occupy the same time and space then .. but the Elena/Megan example do .. but there is no proof thus far to support the assertion that these two characters are the same in essence ..

TC and Berek are not parrallel existences in the same time and space context .. so ok perhaps there are anomalies to this rule that we dont yet get ..

The Creator when he was in our world he appeared as an old beggar guy to TC and an little old man with poor dental hygene to LA .. presumably the same disguise .. just that LA got up closer than TC did Confused Crying or Very sad .. but he immediately appeared what seemed to LA as if out of no where .. and disappeared after LA had resuscitated him (or something like that) ..

If the Creator's alter-ego in our world was this little old beggar guy .. then he is clearly conscious of it .. and is able to excercise exceptional powers of disappearance that most mortal humans do not possess.

The Creator's alter-ego cant be the little old beggar guy .. and if it is .. he knows it .. more likely is it that the Creator assumed this form to communicate with TC and LA.

Anyway .. maybe the rules of the parrallel universe dont apply the same way to Gods as they do to us lesser beings .. maybe he is the exception .. and that he can consciously inhabit either world and know it .. but theres got to be more to it than that ..

oh wait .. he isnt even an inhabitant of the Land .. he exists beyond its bounds .. so that makes him a being of an entirely different kind .. so we cant look for parrallel personalities for him in the same way that we do for the others..

anyway .. it would seem that Gods can just go where they please within reason .. (still bound by Universal law too) .. (and he cant go to the Land himself Crying or Very sad Question )

*throws hands into the air* .. mmm .. I am going to go and play with the speculation fairies no more today *shrug*

though LF could be Joan Wink maybe Cov jr. is on to something afterall Wink Wink Razz Shocked

I do not suggest that all six billion people living in our world have their alter-ego's in that other world (we should find a name for them, EarthA and EarthB?), as the population of the Land resembles rather the state of Europe in the early Middle Ages rather than our era; rather it is the other way round; I can quite imagine the Creator (who is on one plane of existense a normal guy in our world, at least superficially, and also having divine powers on another plane) creatin EarthB, and walking our world, picking people interesting for him and planting them onto EarthB... or maybe he simply chose the place he was familiar with, the little town and vicinities where TC also happened to live, and copied its entire population into the Land... an experiment, how they behave in a completely different environment, a world laden with magic and Earthpower, that we so utterly miss from our existence...

okay, I'm just rambling

Wow! Shocked That's a fascinating thought... This old man/Creator 'copied and pasted' the inhabitants of the town where he lived into a new dimension?... Now that is a completely new thought to me...

Re-incarnation, thats the stuff... Wink I was thinking maybe Covenant and LA were exceptions to it, but now Im thinking its ALMOST impossible.
Quote:
Ah, Warmark, all that passes unattempted is impossible.

Anyway.....Covenants town being the Land....thats interesting. Lets think.....its obvious that the Creator had a hand..or two... in Covenants town. He gave Covenant leprosy(I think he did that could be a whole other discussion) he moved LA to the town for his own purposes that paid of in the end. He moved Joan away(by-product of TC's leprosy) So maybe the townspeople are the people from the Land. (How come we cant call them Landers,or Landrians... lol Wink )

I think our friend Foamfollower is suffering key-deprivation, and is trying to communicate as coherently as is possible with some of the keys missing... Perhaps a little White Gold is called for Smile
