It is that time of year!!

My local Albertson's that caters to the "Kosher for Passover" crowd has the 2-litre "Kosher for Passover" Coke, even though Passover is a month away.

As I said earlier in this thread, since corn is not an allowed food for Ashkenasim on Passover, "Kosher for Passover" Coke is made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup. It's not the glass bottle Coke with cane sugar, but it is a definite improvement.

My Albertson's has the K4P Coke in a totally different display then the regular sodas, but you will know it as it has a yellow cap on the 2-litre bottle instead of a red or black one. There is also printing on the cap that says something like O-UP.

This does not apply to the Coke with Lemon. That has a yellow cap year round.

I am awaiting a 99 cents/bottle sale. Then we'll easily buy at least a case of them. I don't buy soda at all, except for this time of year. It will keep.

...well...except for the occasional glass bottle of Mexican coke...

But never for the house.

Big Grin

...oh, and for those who do prefer Pepsi, I think they also do a K4P Pepsi with cane sugar. But I don't know how they signify that it is K4P. Probably also by a different cap...

With Passover starting Monday night, these should be available now. There's a picture of the yellow cap on this blog post, It's only the real thing once a year. Since our Albertson's closed last year I've been having difficulty finding it though. I'll need to go on a more dedicated hunt tomorrow...

Oh, in case you don't want to go to the blog post, here's the picture from it of the cap...

It must have the Hebrew characters and some sort of hecksher on it, most likely the OU-P to be K4P Coke.

Thanks for the heads-up! I bought my annual box of matzo this past week, but forgot to look for the Coke.

Which reminds me, while out on my various road trips over the past few weeks, I spied -- and bought and immediately consumed Twisted Evil -- a 20-oz. bottle of Pepsi Throwback Formula. It too has sugar instead of corn syrup. No idea whether it's kosher...but for those looking for the Mexican Coke experience but Pepsi flavor, it's something to look for. I typically drink Diet Coke these days, but this find justified "breaking training" in my mind. Wink

I almost looked right past the bottle -- the label features the 1970s Pepsi logo, which looked quite normal to me, as Pepsi was my drink of choice in those days. Ah, for a tall, cold Pepsi in a glass 16-oz. bottle! The feel of the thick glass bottle rim against my lip was an integral part of the experience for me...

Oh lucky!
I've only seen the throwback formulations in the cans.
Though the Heritage Dr. Pepper isn't bad.

But I'm still going to order a case of Dublin Dr. Pepper when I can. Even if it is only 8 oz bottles, I have to give it a try...

Oooooh, I'd never heard of Dublin Dr Pepper. I may have to save up for a case myself.

I'm sure you remember when sodas only came in 8-oz. bottles. The soda machines had a long glass door through which you could see the bottles. There was a spring-loaded collar that fitted around the neck of the first bottle in the row. When you put in your money, it unlocked all the collars -- you opened the glass door and pulled out the soda you wanted, and the collars immediately locked again. I saw one of these old machines at a DQ in Littleton, CO when I was there visiting Batty.

I found the 20-oz. bottles of Pepsi Throwback at a couple of different convenience stores. I don't believe I've ever seen them in a 6-pack -- just sold as individual bottles.
