I don't know most of these. I assume Murrin's read most. Heh. Anyway, good to learn about some of them.

I've heard of a lot of them, read four of them. Skews a bit more toward the side of fantasy I don't pay much attention to.

Well, there are a few I've recommended in other places: City of Stairs, Mirror Empire, the Eternal Sky trilogy.

I keep hearing nothing but good about The Goblin Emperor, unfortunately I won't get a copy until April.

Mirror Empire was on Audible. I've kept glancing into the direction of Goblin Emperor as well; for some reason enjoy reading about trolls and giants and Trell and Jaghut and Toblakai and whatnot hairy hulks more than mere boring humans (that said, feel free to rec the helsviti out of the monstergenre...).

Huh. I've got the Robin Hobb and the Carol Berg in my virtual TBR pile. The Aaronovitch and "Red Rising" are in my dead-tree TBR pile, as they were WFC freebies. I *might* also have the Abercrombie from WFC -- and if it's not in mine, then Batty might have it. Pretty sure I saw copies floating around the convention.

I read the first in the Iron Druid Chronicles series after a couple of folks suggested it to me, and didn't much care for it. Ditto the Brent Weeks series. So I'll be taking a pass on those. And I'm pretty much done with Shannara at this point, too. Laughing

R. A. Salvatore? Puh-leeease! Spare me! Any Best of list with Salvatore (and Brooks) ought to be suspect! It's simple catering, plain and simple!

I was pretty amazed to see them on the list, too.

I'm surprised to see Salvatore on any list that isn't called "Authors To Avoid".

I haven't. First time I'd heard of the author. Are the books standalone, or am I going to have to read vols. 1-4 to figure out what's going on? Laughing

You have to read 1-4. Very Happy Especially for this one, because while 1-3 each resolved their own story arcs for the most part, book 4 didn't really. But they're good. Very Happy StoneMaybe (I think it was StoneMaybe) recommended them to me and I enjoyed them quite a lot.

The others are, in order, Rivers of London, Moon Over Soho, Whispers Underground and Broken Homes.
