New diet plan - Constant stress. Very Happy

Yeah, I only eat when I'm hungry anyway. No appetite, no eating.

Could be the next multi-million dollar bestseller - How To Lose Weight & Raise Your Blood Pressure with Hourly Panic Attacks.

Erm. The marketing might need some work.

Dinner tonight is at Kirkland SummerFest while listening to Cherry Cherry, Hair Nation, and Cream Tangerine.

Dinner was provided by a vendor: Caesar salad with salad shrimp, hold the croutons.

Tonight Trev made a delicious steak, with pepper sauce, baked tater with cheese, coriander and sour cream, asparagus, broccolini and carrots .. and it was exquisite. Perfect in every particular. We enjoyed it with a nice tempranillo .. bon appetit

Hmmm, I had steak and chips for a late lunch yesterday, but was hungry again last night so fried some boerewors, which I sliced and ate as a snack with a variety of dipping stuff...mustard, fruit chutney, chilli & ginger relish, etc.

Yep. Very Happy Braaing requires...well...a braai. And I live in a flat, so braaing is not something easily accomplished. (Not to mention being slow). Very Happy

Tonight we were both tired so I had baked beans on toast Wink Razz Trev does not approve of such commonness Laughing .. he made pizza .. and I had a piece too ... the snob I married will not eat baked beans himself .. or tomato sauce .. or anything at all with vinegar in it .. so nothing pickled or dressed 🤷‍♀️ And we brits love our pickles, vinegar and tomato sauce .. Razz

Yesterday Trev made massaman beef curry, with rice and home made roti ..

Actually, I'd previously learned of braai and its place in South Africa culture from some article on international manners. Grill enthusiast that I am, it stuck with me that it was a huge social error in SA to touch or interfere with someone else's braai, and I then looked up a bunch of stuff about braai, including this wurst that sounds like it is named for a 19th century conflict.

Menolly does know my methods, though...as well she ought.

It's only a mind full of junk until you pull some useful nugget out of it.

Couldn't agree more. All knowledge is useless until you need it. Very Happy

"Boer" is literally the Afrikaans word for "farmer," so directly translated it would be "farmers sausage." It became a common (even sometimes pejorative) term for Afrikaaners, because at one time, the vast majority were farmers (or ranchers, the term making no distinction between farming crops, or farming livestock, or these days, "farming" game) and that became how they referred to themselves as well.

Impressive edge-to-edge cook with no discernible gradient. Not something I can yet achieve on a grill or cast iron skillet.
Hail

Some do look for a bit more surface brown / crust, but the technique you've singled our for scorn - plus short, intense sear - is the only way I know to get that consistent internal cook (no slight overcook at edge, nor marginally rawer at center) along with the external level of char they want.

<--- [Contemplates chasing mastery of cast iron technique Vader used, then doing briefer final sear to achieve both goals.]
