Well crap! I didn't know about National Donut day.
And apparently no none here at my office did either.

I'm DONUTLESS!!!! This is so wrong.

For the record I am and will always be a Krispy Kreme guy. I really don't like Dunkin or the supermarket donuts.
Mmmmm...Krispy Kreme....<drools>

It's too much sugar and grease in one item. Makes me queasy.

I've never heard donuts described in that way and I hope I never will again. Big Grin

As a child, I would eat bags of the mini white powdered "Snoopy donuts" with milk.
I also used to be a huge fan (dbl meaning intended) of chocolate covered, cream-filled longjohns. Recently, I had an attack of food nostalgia, and got one from the local supermarket. Admittedly, it was less than fresh, but it was so fatty/sweet that I barely ate half, and still felt like had smeared it on my face instead of eating it. I hate that feeling.
So, it appears I have lost my taste for donuts.

But dw, you are a special case having low carbed for so long. I bet baked doughnuts would appeal now.

Oh man! Sweet Sixteens. I do love me some mini powdered donuts. I've tried to eat an entire bag at one sitting before. I don't think I've ever managed it.

As to the chocolate covered cream filled, I can't eat any kind except the KK version. When I was fresh out of high school I'd try to eat all six that came in a box but even my sweet tooth couldn't handle it all. Nowdays I can eat one maybe two.

However the KK crullers I could eat all six no problem. Smile

Krispy Kreme is too much sugar for me too. If I eat more than one(sometimes I can get away with 2) at a time, I start to feel nauseous. And it gives me a headache.

Krispy Kreme is so much better than Dunkin it makes me ashamed of myself for ever having put the latter in my mouth. I feel sorry for all of you up North who haven't tasted the ambrosial delight of KK.

I've seen people around here getting KK's shipped to them from the States.

People around the US used to get White Castle hamburgers (a.k.a. sliders) shipped to them frozen, drew. Now you can buy the li'l greaseballs in yer freezer case. No accounting for taste....

I saw a Dunkin Coffee place in Madrid (the one in Spain, not the one in Missouri or wherever Laughing ). I was too scared to go in, in case I gained 5 pounds just walking in the door. Shocked

I don't actually brake when I see the "Hot Now" sign at KK. But I've been known to cross a couple of lanes of traffic and make a U-turn to go back.... You can sorta kinda recreate the hot donut experience with a non-Hot-Now KK by nuking it briefly. But it's not *really* the same.

Yeah...I've tried that.
Maybe if there was no local shop and I could only get cold ones at a Circle K or some such.

But they really don't compare...

I do have recipes for copy cat home made KK glazed. But I haven't tried them yet, and it really does look like a basic fried and glazed doughnut recipe.

There is nothing like hot KK glazed donuts right off the line. No other brand can compare.
