I've decided to answer Syl's call for new Vesper threads. Zeppelin is, to me, without equal in their day or any other for that matter. It was a serendipitous fellowship that achieved near perfection. The lyrics, the sound, Plant's unique voice could never be recreated.

Well, what do you think? If you agree with me, what is your favorite Zeppelin song? That's a hard question to answer I now, but just give it a try.

Hey lady - you got the love I need
Maybe more than enough.
Oh Darling... walk a while with me
You've got so much...

Many have I loved - Many times been bitten
Many times I've gazed along the open road.

Many times I've lied - Many times I've listened
Many times I've wondered how much there is to know.

Many dreams come true and some have silver linings
I live for my dream and a pocketful of gold.

Mellow is the man who knows what he's been missing
Many many men can't see the open road.

Many is a word that only leaves you guessing
Guessing 'bout a thing you really ought to know, ooh!
You really ought to know...

Don't actually like 'em much, but Stairway is my favourite.

I can't say that I've ever really listened to much of their music. I know Stairway and I've heard Kashmir.
They aren't my cup of tea.

This is what my husband has always sung to me:
Thank You
(Page/Plant)

If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more.

Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by.
My love is strong, with you there is no wrong,
together we shall go until we die. My, my, my.
An inspiration is what you are to me, inspiration, look... see.

And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles,
Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.
Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad.
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

Always liked Led Zep from the fringe...What I mean is I was never a Zep Head but I enjoyed their more popular tunes. I chose the immigrant song because I think it's underappreciated.

As far as Best band of all time...I have to say the Beatles.

Love Zep! Stairway, Evermore, Rock and Roll, Going to California...great stuff.

Stairway is my favorite tho. Smile

And as we wind on down the road
our shadows taller than our souls
There walks a lady we all know
who shines white light and wants to show
how everything still turns to gold
and if you listen really hard
the tune will come to you at last
when all are one and one are all
to be a rock and not to roll....

And she's buying the stairway to heaven....

Smile Smile

Of course they're the best! Houses of the Holy is my favorite--though the still-overplayed Stairway has got to be one of the greatest rock songs of all time.

Sounds like you've only got Zep IV. Laughing Well, better than nothing, I say!

Anyway, Kashmir is my all-time favorite song. Both Jimmy Page and Robert Plant agree that it is their best work. Case closed!

Houses of the Holy is my favorite album by them. I used to "get the Led out" every day, but then I discovered The Pink Floyd Sound. But despite that Pink Floyd is my favorite band, I feel The Beatles are undoubtedly the best.

And where the heck is ACHILLES LAST STAND?! And NO QUARTER!

Battle of Evermore

Queen of light took her bow
And then she turned to go,
The prince of peace embraced the gloom
And walked the night alone.
Oh, dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the morn - ing light.
The dark lord rides in force tonight
And time will tell us all.
Oh, throw down your plow and hoe,
Rest not to lock your homes.
Side by side we wait the might
Of the darkest of them all.
I hear the horsesí thunder
Down in the valley blow,
Iím waiting for the angels of avalon,
Waiting for the eastern glow.
The apples of the valley hold,
The seas of happiness,
The ground is rich from tender care,
Repay, do not forget, no, no.
Oh,-------dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the morning light.
The apples turn to brown and black, the tyrantís face is red.
Oh the war is common cry, pick up you swords and fly.
The sky is filled with good and bad
That mortals never know.
Oh, well, the night is long, the beads of time pass slow,
Tired eyes on the sunrise, waiting for the eastern glow.
The pain of war cannot exceed
The woe of aftermath,
The drums will shake the castle wall,
The ring wraiths ride in black, ride on.
Sing as you raise your bow,
Shoot straighter than before.
No comfort has the fire at night
That lights the face so cold.
Oh dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the morniní light.
The magic runes are writ in gold
To bring the balance back, bring it back.
At last the sun is shining, the clouds of blue roll by,
With flames from the dragon of darkness
The sunlight blinds his eyes.

I voted "How could you forget...?" ---> All My Love

I don't get why In Through The Out Door is held in low regard by many fans. It is a great Led Zep album, in my opinion.

yeah! Big Grin right on!

Should I fall out of love, my fire in the light
To chase a feather in the wind
Within the glow that weaves a cloak of delight
There moves a thread that has no end.

For many hours and days that pass ever soon
The tides have caused the flame to dim
At last the arm is straight, the hand to the loom
Is this to end or just begin?

all of my love, all of my love, all of my love to you

The cup is raised, the toast is made yet again
One voice is clear above the din
Proud aryan one word, my will to sustain
For me, the cloth once more to spin

all of my love, all of my love, all of my love to you

Yours is the cloth, mine is the hand that sews time
His is the force that lies within
Ours is the fire, all the warmth we can find
He is a feather in the wind

all of my love, all of my love, all of my love to you

"Houses Of The Holy"

Let me take you to the movies. Can I take you to the show
Let me be yours ever truly. Can I make your garden grow

From the houses of the holy, we can watch the white doves go
From the door comes Satan's daughter, and it only goes to show. You know.

There's an angel on my shoulder, In my hand a sword of gold
Let me wander in your garden. And the seeds of love I'll sow. You know.

So the world is spinning faster. Are you dizzy when you're stoned
Let the music be your master. Will you heed the master's call

Oh... Satan and man.

Said there ain't no use in crying. Cause it will only, only drive you mad
Does it hurt to hear them lying? Was this the only world you had? Oh-oh

So let me take you, take you to the movie. Can I take you, baby, to the show.
Why don't you let me be yours ever truly. Can I make your garden grow
You know.

ACHILLES LAST STAND!!!!! Can't forget In The Light either. No better band ever. There are some songs of theirs I like better than others, but they're the only band I can honestly say never wrote a bad song.
