If I didn't have kids, this would have gone completely under my radar. It's a cartoon on Adult Swim, produced (in part) by Dan Harmon, who also did Community. Like Community, it's one of the most witty and original comedies I've ever seen. Yeah, it's a cartoon. But it has plenty of adult-oriented themes (like divorce, existential angst, etc.). And it's freakin' bizarre. This show goes places no other show goes and the two main characters embark on inter-dimensional journeys. Check it out! 1st season on Hulu.

The 2nd season is starting off well. This show is a lot deeper than you'd expect for a cartoon. If your marriage is having trouble, for instance, I imagine it would be difficult to watch. Of perhaps cathartic? Midlife crisis combined with teenage angst set in the multiverse ... what's not to like? Laughing

If anything, the Stephen King fans here have to watch the Needful Things episode (season 1). It's a hilarious twist on that gimmicky plot.

I've been meaning to check this out.

I thought it was on Nick, or regular cartoon network. How Adult Swim is it? Gory, crazy, foul, aberrant etc?

If you are liking the show, they did a Simpons extended intro, in season 24 or 25ish. Worth checking out, probably!

Always happy to have suggestions for good kid shows.
I'm guessing you are Netflixing it, Z?

If so, my recommendations are Phineas and Ferb (maybe start with season 2 as it takes a few episodes to get the wit of the show), and Danger Mouse. If you aren't already familiar with those shows.

I think we were watching it on Hulu. I don't think Netflix has it. The new season is available on Cartoon Network.

MFB: yes, it's very Adult Swim. It can be gory (well, cartoon gore), but the themes are what's so adult about it. Not sexual, but mature all the same. Existential angst and midlife crisis. But don't let that fool you ... it's damn funny. The science fiction aspects are very well done, too.

It's definitely not a kids' show. My boys are 22 and 14. Teenagers and up, is my recommendation.

Themes aren't sexual? I watch this with my son, who is 13, and occasionally an episode will push the boundaries. Can't recall the name of the episode but the one where Rick get's reunited with the hive mind that is his ex-girlfriend is very sexual. Also, if you watch the uncensored versions there is a great deal of profanity.

Love the show. It's a must see. Just proceed with caution if you have young kids that will be watching with you.

Sorry, I guess I forgot about that one. So it's mostly not sexual. Laughing

I'm glad others are enjoying it. It's one of my favorite shows.

Now, if you like that, check out Bojack Horseman!

Some of the best shows nowadays are cartoons. Wild.

WTF? SBG does a stealth posting in a thread about a cartoon and Brinn bombs in too? Laughing

SBG, goddamnit, hit gen disc or something and stick around for a change. Nice to see you here. (You too Brinn, always. Very Happy )

Oh yeah...thread relevance...Just watched both season 1 and 2 with the GF over the last few days. Some pretty clever stuff.
