So, went back to Skyrim for a few days, then decided to download X-Rebirth, which has been sitting in my Steam library for quite some time.

When I went online though, there was a 1.4Gb update for Rome II, and a 1.4Gb update for Attila. So I ran those first, then started a new Attila campaign while I waited for X-Rebirth.

Now...the X series are an odd bunch of games...open world space sims in the vein of Elite and Vega Strike, which I really loved.

LoreMaster actually put me onto them, but the first one I played was X3 - Terran Conflict. I modded the hell out of it, and ended up loving it.

They have massively steep learning curves though. This latest release has taken a lot of flak for being broken to shit, but apparently it has all been fixed by the patches they released.

I checked it out, then quit and went looking for the most highly recommended mods.

Will see how it goes. Very Happy

I pulled out Banished a few days ago, and man I'd forgotten how much fun it is Very Happy

Basically medieval SimCity, but more of a focus on people rather than zoning. Or a graphical version of Dwarf Fortress, if you're familiar with it Wink

You start with a small group of settlers in a remote location, and you micromanage the hell out of things. Essentially it's a spreadsheet with a GUI, but ridiculously fun Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I managed to grab a whole bunch of Steam achievements on it in one game (achieve a certain city size, store a certain amount of materials, etc), and I plan on going after some of the harder achievements next (like a small mountainous map with harsh weather... Oi, that one's gonna be tough).

Not all that super impressed with X-Rebirth yet. Turns out I'm stuck flying this one ship. I can own other ships, and have pilots fly them from me, but I can't fly one myself...

Tried out Theatre of War 2: Africa 1943, and it's fun, realistic, difficult, and a bit tedious. Played as the Germans and can't get through the damned Kasserine Pass. Laughing

Started AC IV: Black Flag last night...didn't get far, but pretty standard AC fair. Fun, predictable, and simple.

Star Wars II: Battleground

The Campaign has been really difficult, not being used to this particular type of gameplay, and I'd thought about giving up on the Underground mission. Finally made it to the face-off with General Grievous, but the fiend keeps knocking me out. Good fun.

Starting LANing in the office again, so played a bit of Counter Strike Source this weekend to familiarise myself with it. Very Happy

Rimworld. An interesting indie colony simulator, still in alpha, but pretty good if you're into micro-management. (And not tooo much micro, although a fair bit.)

Viking Conquest Reforged, the DLC for Mount & Blade Warband.

Takes Warband to the 9th Century AD and the Norse invasions of Britain.

Evil Genius. An oldish base-builder I picked up on special at GOG.com. You have to construct a secret super-villain lair and...well...take over the world. Very Happy

Still playing. Around 55% I think. Runs fine on my machine at mid-level settings, and looks good. I really do think this is the best written GTA yet. These games really are becoming more like interactive movies. GTA IV's story was pretty compelling and most well written, but this one is just so clever.

Back to Titan Quest.

I was lurking through some to the TQ forum threads and discovered a term of gameplay they call "Farming". I believe it has to do with dropping items in certain locations in order to effect items later found. So I'm trying it out to see what happens.

Also, I happened to notice in a woodland location an unassumming tree-stump with a neat little axe stuck in it. Of course the axe can't be picked up as it's not a quest item. Still, on closer inspection it has a very interesting 3D look to it which made me wonder if by boosting my character's strength, or more likely intelligence, I might later return to the location and pick up the axe.
Probably not, darn it! - why do they have to tease us like that!

Yeah, I've seen Diablo though never played. RPG's were never really my thing, but TQ got very addictive. The game is massive! From ancient Greece, to Egypt, to Babylon, to the Great Wall of China and beyond.

I've been installing lots of other games recently - was looking forward to playing, Silverfall Earth Awakening . If only to break the TQ habit - but I keep getting the "Administrator Rights Only", lockout.
I've tried switching the admin account over, several times, but somehow I keep doing it wrong.

Like playing a game, I'll get there eventually!

What OS you using? (Try right-clicking on the .exe and choosing "Run as Administrator" from the context menu.)

Diablo II was great. I never played D3 because of the stupid "always on" internet connection requirement. I won't play a single player game that requires I be connected.

Sank a lot of time into ^that,^ nearly wiped out the West Saxons, or Wessex as it were.

But finished my download of Sleeping Dogs yesterday, so been playing that. GTA style open world crime/cop thing, set in Hong Kong.

Looks pretty good for all it's a few years old, but the camera and controls are pretty clunky. Got Fallout-style skills to unlock, and this version includes all the DLC and whatnot.

Got it on sale from Steam, so worth the price.

Quite enjoying Sleeping Dogs, now that I'm more used to the controls and the combat. They could have made it so much better though...despite open world, still pretty linear.

Giving you the option to support or oppose various factions would have added so much to the game play, and maybe some strategic options on how to approach various situations.

Back to Warband: Viking Conquest Reforged.

As a vassal of Danmark, I've managed to lead campaigns as Marshall that utterly destroyed West Seax.

There will be no Englaland in my world. Very Happy

Also pressed the Mercians down to only a couple of fortresses, and no major towns.

Then all the bloody lords of Wessex (including the Aetheling Alfred) bailed, and swore allegiance to Danmark. And they all hate my guts. Managed to win over Wulfhere eventually, but he's a strong contender for Marshall, so I sat out the next election. Building up my forces and consolidating my holdings.

This game is a real time sink. Very Happy
