I'll be slowly going through as much of the official Conan Doyle ouvre as I find time/motivation to do so. Wikipedia states that some of the last few aren't likely written by Conan Doyle. I don't really care about that but I hope you can tell me some of the stories to anticipate if I ever get far enough to read them. (I still haven't started on the the first of the short stories after finishing the 1st 2 books weeks ago.) I really enjoyed(for a given value of enjoy) reading those musty stories too. (My only remembered [vague now] knowledge of Holmes is from Elementary(tv show), Holmes Downey/Law movies, Cumbers/Freeman Sherlock n various old Sherlocks [probably Brett, maybe others] that i've watched on dvd over 10 years ago. I'm really curious what was in the original stories that were adapted/changed in the versions i've watched(but barely remember most of it now, unless i rewatch).
Tldr: Av, what stories/books do you like/encourage me to read of the original Conan Doyle Holmes canon? (I'll probably do a strict publication order read as i'm kinda ocd about it nowadays and it's my first time ever reading the stories). |

Pretty much agree with Sarge there, although for some reason "Sign of the Four" has never been one of my favourites. Speckled band was pretty damn good though.

Thnx, sarge. And Av, too. Will take these under advisement when i (re-)start my reading in order of the Holmes canon by Conan Doyle. (Will need to research if im gonna read all 60 Conan Doyle novels/stories; so far 2 novels [first 2], 58 more to go.) |

I'm back on the ole donaldson except audio. Through the gap, first chronicles, the two new ones, starting on last chronicles now. I read 4/5 of the last book then decided i would read ALL DONALDSON AGAIN before finishing. _________________ Start where you are,

The Institute by Stephen King.
Great little book! Thoroughly enjoying it (even if in places it is a trifle uncomfortable). _________________ If you've ever wondered how you would have behaved in one of the great developments of historical oppression of the twentieth century - now you know.

Just finished Fareed Zakaria's Ten Lessons for a Post-pandemic World.
It should more rightly have been called 15 or 20 Questions for the modern world, with lots of historical context and excerpts from other famous writers, and some very interesting thoughts to ponder over the next few years. But that's a touch wordy.
Quite interesting, though. _________________ "You make me think Hell is run like a corporation."
