Okay, so I almost lit into you just now for "being mean to Av" SB...

But of course I can't actually tell tone of voice over the internet.
(And I was also thinking about context of other things that are going rather badly in large swaths the world, including SA.)

There are a lot of things that make places not great to live.

Anyway, I'm here after a week and a half of my husband dealing with having been seriously ill.
ER trips, and everything surrounding illnesses I don't now about (which is most of them) freak me out, for a variety of reasons.

Today was much better. Today was amazing and surprising. For one, I tutored one of my students for the first time in... 17 months. Also, had a good chat with Mighara earlier in the day. Was really encouraged. And my hubbie got back from his follow-up specialist (gastroenterologist) appt, and he has a doctor he thinks is sane and he can talk to. (if he ends up needing to reach out to him again)

Now I'm at the "wow it's late and lots of things still aren't done" part of the day, and that's a bit of a let-down, but... today was really gorgeous.

The first part (glad you dont live here) and the happy treason day, I will admit came from a position of being annoyed at his comment about Independence day.

However the riots in SA are no joke and I was asking how things were. I do see how that could have been taken in another way and I will edit if it makes everyone feel better about it.

Glad to hear you had a good one Linna. It's a scary thing when someone close is seriously ill.

I don't think there's any need to edit that post SB, unless of course you'd like to edit your custom rank, avatar and signature (the ones with the asterisks) which I have no doubt you will not do Very Happy Sounds like you're on another "break from the Watch" anyway so it probably doesn't matter.

Weeeell, it's a reference to Aliantha and Lucimay - a sexist reference (being "hens") blaming them for being instrumental in Cail's banning. I'm assuming he doesn't mean you, since you haven't disappeared, but that's probably something for SB to answer Very Happy

Yeah I know, all a bit controversial for Gen Disc, but it is what it is.

Oh! Well that is disappointing and yeah sexist and demeaning.

Sadly itís cuz of unpleasant stuff like this that they donít feel comfortable visiting.

Theres really no need for it as we are all drawn to Jays creation cuz of a shared love of SRD and the Chrons in particular.

Perhaps if we tried to be more like the collaborative inhabitants of the Land - and less critical and petty - the entire forum would be alive with better will and we would capture the joy of community that is here.

And that Watchers have experienced in real life through elohimfests etc.

Since joining the Watch, Iíve met the most amazing humans, some have since passed from this world ♥️ - many are friends to this day and I keep in touch via facebook, others have written to me down under, I have exchanged cultural gifts with some, some have come all the way from the US to visit and spend time with me and my family in real life.

Itís a truly unique community we have here - political differences do not define us as humans, or should not.

Imagine if churches or any ďunifyingĒ group excluded a sector of society cuz they thought differently or disagreed with them on some things.

Oh well all we can do is continue to smile and be of good cheer ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Nahh, i thought that might be it. (after i thought for 2 minutes.) no sweat, no fret.
Or as Av would say... uhhh, actually what is that saying in Afrikaans for "don't worry/no big deal"? I forget...

StevieG- D'oh! I'm so fortunate that people don't have telepathy working!
Yesterday, I literally thought in my head "yay, we [me and two other women in this apartment bldg] had a hen party in the laundry room!"
pffft, I was hoping that "hen" was still a word ppl could use.
(My poor son is like "grrrr, so many words you can't use... like, the word for rooster, and for a female dog, and...")

Anyway, our "hen party" in the laundry room... yeah, i found out where my neighbor had gone when she'd been away.
She was in the ICU three days.
(But she and I could both wholeheartedly agree that it's a good thing she didn't elope with the guy who put her there.)
it's a sad, dark world, people.
let's hang together.

Yeah--I think we all have both gotten on each-others' nerves or had someone else get on our nerves.
I remember when I felt like the Watch was "against me," and would leave for a prolonged time and then come back.
(Also, I could never get people to pay attention to the threads I started! Or things all went in the wrong direction, and NOT the direction I had plannnned. Evil or Very Mad which is funny when you think about it... planning what other people's roles in the conversation will be?)

Note, that functionally, in this very thread, you and StevieG appear to be "ganging up" against SB.
Remember that when we say we disapprove of each-others' ideas or stances, it's hard to not make them think we would like to exclude THEM personally.
(except when you have a bunch of people who agreed to have a debate and who LOVE to argue)

speaking of people who love to argue... that brings me back to the subject of my husband. Big Grin
I really think I need to adjust to being willing to engage argumentatively.
idk what to do with that man some days.
Today was kind of terrible.
We were trying to resolve a problem involving a fridge that ...we had reason to believe was an electrical fire hazard and that the landlord-people wanted us to do our "due diligence" when it came to cleaning the coils. (except I misplaced all my vacuum's attachments)
so i was stressed and not relating very well to him.
And then I decided to just tactically be more loud, cranky, and unreasonable when interacting with him and the kids usual and that seemed to work better than other options.
Hide

Anyway, happily, even though it was after-hours, the landlord came over tonight (after I'd convinced a family member of his that there really was a problem) and... at one point tested out plugging in the fridge.
Whoooo boy... big fiery flash of light. "No doubt it's the fridge. Okay!"

So on that note, goodnight.

And thank you for this greeting & encouragement, Skyyy-ey-Wigh-ey!

No malicious ďganging upĒ here Linna - I simply had no clue about SBs sig.

But was disappointing to read it may be a tool to slag off specific female Watchers (who were literally ganged up on here) - sad - not particularly nice discovery. 🤷‍♀️ but hey life Ö as you say ďdark worldĒ.

Iím accustomed to people being disrespectful as it came with the job - and well lol 😂 here in the Tank was a breeding ground for contentiousness.

I do not feel the same way about others being demeaned however Ö it triggers my protective 😉 ironically *mother HEN* self lol 😂 😉

You may use whatever term you like Very Happy

The difference between "yay we can have a hens party in the laundry" and "You can deny if you will but the "hens" didn't just happen to show up when they did, by accident" is rather large don't you think? If I had a signature saying something like "you can deny it all you like, but the "cocks" didn't just band together in order to make the Tank an insufferable mess", would you defend me? Or would you find it a little insulting and demeaning?

That's such an interesting take on things. I explained my meaning to Sky, who asked, and she reacted. I'm not sure how that is ganging up?

As to how I feel today, I'm a little tense as I'm making a "triumphant" return to the soccer field after an injury. I'm hoping I can get through the game unscathed Very Happy

Are you sure you want to have this discussion in the Gen disc thread? I am very capable of defending myself. However there will be some harsh words and hurt feelings.

Have a great night all

Kindest regards,
SB

Not necessary, I said all I had to say in the Cail thread a number of months ago. I was surprised that the last few messages ended up being about my sig. Keep in mind that I was not the one who started this conversation. Anyone who wishes to know what my sig is about can do a history search for the locked Cail thread.

Carry on.

As you wish Very Happy

Well, I made it through my soccer game yesterday. I only played one half, and held myself back for self preservation. But no reoccurrence of injuries which is a relief.

Well, been a rough couple of weeks. Both the GF and I were struck down by the dreaded lurgy, though luckily with only relatively mild symptoms. Hers worse than mine, but no joke in either case. Thankfully both on the road to recovery now, but still feeling pretty worn down and fragile.

Also of course as SB noted, some fraught times in SA as well recently, although "politically" initiated, largely driven by the massive inequalities and attendant desperation of far too many people already living on the ragged edge.

Also largely subsided now bar the finger-pointing etc. I'm glad to say, (and was not personally affected), but of course the underlying issues remain sadly extant.

Other than that all good, am taking it easy for the moment and hope y'all remain well.

Wow glad you are both on the road to recovery - it is the time of the year for lurgies - though here there has been less - the pay-off of social distancing and improved personal hygiene and hygiene practices. lol 😂

Yeah well, this has been THE lurgy. Smile Sadly precautions appear to be no guarantee I'm afraid. I've tried to be VERY careful, but nonetheless, struck down.

Luckily, relatively mild symptoms. Relative of course being the word.
