I wonder if it would be hoping for too much to see the ritual of desecration....

I want to see that happen too.
And remember, The Ritual of Desecration was only so horrible because of where Kevin did it.
What if Linden needed to say............"remove" a few thousand Skurji from the Warrens under Mt Thunder?
There wouldn't be any negative impact to anything on the surface if she did it a few miles underground.

Didn't Kevin do it Kiril Threndor? How would that be different if Linden did it in the wight warrens or the Lost Deep?

Hmmm.....I don't know!
I always assumed he and Foul were on the surface.

I don't think it ever stated, but I always imagined them inside the Mountain as well.

I don't know, I have trouble picturing Foul anywhere above ground--he seems like the type to hide out in the darkness underground.

If it was in the mountain then how did the Cavewights survive if the effect of the Ritual radiated throughout the Land?
Or the ur-Viles?
They aren't being of Law but can be killed by it and they were at ground zero.

(I know you don't know, I'm just asking out loud at this point.)

Kevin lost the Staff of Law during the Ritual, and Drool found it in Kiril Threndor. There may be a more explicit passage stating that Kevin and Foul did the ritual right there, but that at least helps support that they were deep in Mt Thunder at the time.

I thought it was explicitly stated they did it on Kevin's Watch?

Kevin met Foul in Kiril Threndor, and the RoD was performed there. However, he had to hide the Staff elsewhere prior to the RoD. Drool found the Staff in some other part of Mt. Thunder.

I don't know how the Cavewights and ur-viles survived the RoD, but the Demondim were definitelty wiped out.

Is the Ritual of Desecration an Act of Law? I assume it would have to be, since Kevin's Lore was founded on Earthpower and Law, not on the Wild Magic, since he did not have access to the White Wild Magic Gold.

The mere presence of the uncompleted Staff of Law is enough to slowly unmake the Demondim-spawn Waynhim. If mere passive Law is enough to destroy those created beings, then surely such a great act like the Ritual would be potent enough to shred the created Demondim.

What about this as a loose thread: How was it that Foul became imprisoned on this Earth anyway? Wasn't it suggested that the creator made the Earth, and then later noticed that Foul inhabited it? Why would the creator knowingly create a realm so wondrous and beautiful as this Earth only to be used as a prison for some vile atrocity?

I think it was, in short, an accident. That seems to be what the Creation stories involving the creator say.

The Creator cast his enemy Foul down to the Earth, which Foul had sought to despoil, and fashioned the Arch of Time to imprison him there. It was an act of pure outrage on the Creator's part, which he soon regretted. But he couldn't undo his act without destroying his beautiful Creation.

Whether Foul's imprisonment was an accident by the Creator (which I believe is suggested in the 1st Chronicles) or an intended act (whether it was an act of pure outrage or not, who knows--something I deem quite unlikely), I still see this bit as a loose end needing closure.

The Creator will play a role yet (regardless of how much Donaldson dislikes questions about the guy).

Learning of the existence of another world (ours) from Covenant and Linden Avery, I've wondered if Foul might want to escape the Land and come here.

I bet someone could build a door that made that possible...
