This happens all the time when you retire. I have managed to keep in line by doing the same thing on the same day each week (grandchildren Tuesday, archives Wednesday, Thursday and Friday).

If you're trying to dissuade me from looking forward to retirement, it's not working. Wink

I should've taken this whole week off from work. Nobody's here.

Hang in there Sarge, the root canal will take care of it. I had one a couple of months ago.

I am in the midst of my second four day weekend in a row. Nice.

Antibiotics will do more good than pain meds if it's infected. Sorry. Tooth pain is just about the worst, hope you get it taken care of soon.

And as for this 4-day weekend thing, I had to Google the meaning, and now I am jealous. Razz

Got a question for a, l, (that's aliantha and lorin of course) and anyone else...

Could someone give me a lead on cheap last minute flights if such a thing is to be found nowadays?

I've had two 4-day weekends in a row, too. Plus I took off the Friday and Monday of the preceding week, as well -- so that's 3 4-day weekends in a row. Monday is gonna suck really hard....

Linna -- cheap flights? Depends on where you're going and where you're flying out of. It used to be that the airlines would announce this-coming-weekend sales on Wednesdays or so -- filling up empty seats by letting them go at fire sale prices. I don't know whether they still do that, though.

As airlines go, I find Southwest is often the cheapest option for me. You can click through to their flexible-date calendar if you don't have to leave and/or return on a specific day.

I use one of those search sites but it almost always ends up for me to be Jet Blue. NEVER book on those search sites though (expedia, travelosity) because if something goes wrong with the flight, the people that book directly with the airline get priority for changes. I prefer Jet Blue from Southwest because I like a reserved seat, sitting in the middle freaks me out. Jet Blue has a great search engine that lets you see prices for that entire week. Now there is always Spirit Airlines but personally I would rather paddle a canoe transatlantic than get on those planes.

International I use Delta or the airline of the country I am headed to. Prices especially international are pretty similar between airlines and more time of year dependent. And I never ever use American Airlines. I hate it. All the angry retired municipal workers work there. Awful.

The thing with photos like that is that they rarely capture how great something like that looks in the moment. I can imagine it was pretty awesome!

I know! Sad Plus it's casting this eldritch light that's coloring the snow a peculiar shade of blue. It's like attempting to explain what it felt like to witness noctilucent clouds last summer!

Great photos, Frosty! Must have been even more awesome in person. Smile

Re international flights: Agreed that prices are pretty much uniform, and the airline of the country you're headed to is often your best bet -- especially because you get a taste of the culture before you even get there. (Flying Iberia to Spain was a trip. The flight attendants, who were all men on the trip over, kept passing baskets of bread with the food. "More bread? ¿Más pan?" Big Grin )

So I think my printer is kaput. Have I whined about this in here yet? Sad It worked fine 'til I got a new modem/router; then the printer wouldn't connect wirelessly. (Yes, it's a wireless printer.) So I plugged it into my computer and got it to work that way. Not as convenient, but at least I could print stuff. Then over the weekend, I unplugged the printer cable and plugged it into a different port on my computer, to make way for another device. Now the printer won't even connect via cable, and my computer thinks it's a mass USB storage device. Crazy And I'd just bought all new toner cartridges for it, too....

Multiple times. It was after the last time I uninstalled it that my computer decided the printer was a mass USB storage device. I downloaded a new copy of the driver from HP, installed that, and still couldn't get the printer to connect.

My computer seems to think there's an optical drive inside the "mass USB storage device" that it can't connect to. So I'm guessing there's a hard drive inside the printer, and it's the hard drive that's fried.

Anyway, I've got a new one on order. I got about two years out of this one. Since the warranty was only for a year, I guess I got a deal, huh? Rolling Eyes

I bet it doesn't have a hard drive inside....

It's pretty frustrating. I suppose if I asked HP for service, they could maybe replace the drive. But I'm assuming it would be just as expensive to get it fixed as to get a new machine.

That's fortunate. You'd be considerably more difficult to replace than a balky printer. Wink
