I don't think there has been a CCR thread here yet... so here goes:
I loved to hear "Bad Moon Risin'" cranked up on the LP. (For that, it's esp. handy to live in the country where your nearest neighbor is a quarter of a mile away)
"Have You Ever Seen The Rain?" was in my head this morning...
I don't think I caught half of what they were trying to say, but I really enjoy listening to a lot of their stuff.
Anyone else like them or have favorite CCR songs? |

They did a lot of great stuff. Proud Mary is really good, and it's one of those songs that I like to sing very loud. |

Oh yeah.. Proud Mary... that one sticks in your head too. _________________ "There is something in us, as storytellers and as listeners to stories, that demands the redemptive act, that demands that what falls at least be offered the chance to be restored.

His sense of evil is diluted or lacking altogether, and so he has forgotten the price of restoration.

Lookin' Out My Back Door is a great song to crank up the stereo to after work. _________________ But the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses. I've always gotten a magically feel-good vibration every time I've heard "Born On The Bayou". |

"Bootleg" is another one I enjoy.
[Edited for redundancy; I twice posted that I agreed with Cheval's mention of "Run Through The Jungle" as a good song.]

saw John Fogerty at the Houston Rodeo some time back. excellent show.
CCR's version of Midnight Special
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midnight_Special_%28song%29
John and Alan Lomax, in their book, Best Loved American Folk Songs, told a credible story identifying the Midnight Special as a train from Houston shining its light into a cell in the Sugar Land Prison.
a couple years ago TDCJ sold the Sugarland prison, known as Central Unit. the airport bought the land and the prison was torn down. I was only there once; Julie had applied for a job there. did not get it.

I once got to see John Fogerty, too, in October 2013. He actually applauded US for singing backup to the choruses of his songs, saying "Thanks so much for coming out to see me, God bless you!"
He came across as a really humble, down-to earth guy. Very cool! |

love the band...
here is a deep cut
Effigy
and one of my favorites - the instrumentation and John's vocal are spot on...
Long As I Can See the Light
John Fogerty's vocals convey desperation and longing so well.

I grew up on their LPs, which my parents had along with other truly great records.
Down on the Corner was a favorite as well.
Creedence is a great source for Mondegreens; among them, the classic misheard line "there's a bathroom on the right". I actually thought the chorus for Down On the Corner went, "Down on the corner, out in the street, Willy and the poor boys are playing, playing kick up happy feet". (I'ts "bring a nickel, tap your feet", btw). _________________ Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle. -Philo of Alexandria
