I did a search and found "US Open" and "Wimbledon" - I guess Watchers aren't big tennis fans!
Well, the Australian Open is on now, and there have been some great matches already.
In the mens, we have said goodbye to Verdasco, Hewitt, Nadal, Djokovic, Roddick. The Tsonga/Djokovic clash was on last night and it was a great game. Unfortunately Djokovic seemed to have a stomach upset by about the 4th set and although I'm happy Tsonga got through, it could have been a different story...
Semi-finals are: Federer v Tsonga, and Murray v Cilic.
In the womens 2 Chinese women are through to the semis: Serena Williams v Na Li, and Justine Henin v Jie Zheng.
It should be an interesting set of matches! _________________ Hugs and sh!t!! ~ lucimay

For the finals I would love to see Federer v Murray and Na Li v Justine Henin.
I was very disappointed to see Kim Cljisters (sp) lose so badly and also that Djokovic didnt make it thru... _________________

Tsonga may be a threat. Federer was upset last summer in Toronto, but I can't recall if it was Tsonga who had beaten him.
If Federer plays Murray, I'll be rooting for the Scot, because Federer has won enough already!
I think Federer is a fantastic athlete, but it becomes very difficult to root for someone who has already won every tennis title that matters.
Federer has no need of my sympathy. Meanwhile, I really like Murray's game.
Just hope he's mentally tough enough now to seriously contend against Federer, because he certainly has the shots and sheer power to take down anyone.
Sad that Roddick didn't make it all the way through. I had been ambivalent about him, but he won me over in his match against Federer in last year's Wimbledon.
Even though Roddick lost, I was deeply impressed by his unrelenting attack right to the very end.
I'm also very disappointed about Kim Cljisters, after such a great comeback last year.
I know nothing of those Chinese players, so I'm going to assume it's Henin's championship for the taking. |

Fantastic match from Andy Murray - both players were great but Murray just reached a higher level of play.
How good would it be for a Scot to win a grand slam - bloody brilliant is how good it would be. _________________ Quote - John Smeaton (Terrorists take note)

I don't think I've EVER done this before, but I think I'll get up at 8am tomorrow (Sunday!!!) to watch Murray play.
Whoever suggested he play with Laura Robson in mixed doubles is a genius. Did wonders for his image imo. _________________ Aglithophile and conniptionist and spectacular moonbow beholder 16Jul11

I don't have TV service, so couldn't catch the match.
But sorry that Murray couldn't take it from Federer.
I don't hate Federer by any means, but from now on my default position is to cheer for anyone who plays him. |

matrixman, agree about Roddick. That was a great match last year, it changed my thoughts on him.
Its a shame about Nadal. Plays at such a strain that his body can't hold up. I expect he won't be able to be consistent, or he'll have to change his game, which may bring lesser results. Its part of the greatness of Federer, that he dominates yet doesn't put the same toll on his body, and therefore is able to dominate year after year. _________________ --Andy

Yes, Nadal will struggle I think with his injury problems.
I watched the final, and Federer looked in control apart from the end of the 3rd set, which was very exciting and an excellent tie break. Murray probably should have stole the set.
But having seen Federer in this slam, he looks to me to be getting better! _________________ Hugs and sh!t!! ~ lucimay

Wimbledon 2012 is shaping up nicely! A few surprise exits. A few over achievers.
Anyone watching? _________________ Hugs and sh!t!! ~ lucimay

Yes, avidly. For the 1st time in 74 years we have a GB mens finalist! And I can't watch it as I'm on duty at the research centre all Sunday afternoon
I'll have to get my daughter to explain how to use the iplayer thingy. _________________ I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

I do hope so. I just realised - if we have no customers I might be able to get the match on one of the computers - although I have another bookstall to prepare
At least we have a doubles champion! Marray (GB) and Neilson (Danish) won yesterday. _________________ I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

Oh I do hope so. Got home in time to see most of the 4th set. Wasn't Andy majestic in defeat? _________________ I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

Don't bet on Murray. Not until Djokovic, Nadal and Federer are all on the downslide. Bad timing on his part I think. _________________ --Andy
