A few days ago, a lone gunman killed several people, set multiple homes on fire, masqueraded as a police officer (RCMP), and used four convincing fake police cars to carry out his attacks. The victims include the man's girlfriend, a police officer responding to the scene, and a nurse.

Little is known about the man's motivations for carrying out such a heinous crime, but one thing is certain: despite having some of the strictest gun control legislation in North America, Canada's gun laws failed to save lives.

It is often pointed out after every single mass shooting that America's lax gun laws are to blame, but the reverse is never pointed out by the media.

I think it has been clearly established over the years that strict gun laws never prevent mass shootings.

Essentially your saying gun laws don't work if they don't stop EVERY SINGLE gun crime. Which is stupid, wrong, and malicious (you ARE trying to spread misinformation in order to prevent sound decisions, aren't you?).

Here's data that shows you are wrong. Canada is demonstrably a far safer place to live than the US wrt guns. (Yes, but I could not find more recent charts. If you can find them, please post them.)

No, that is clearly not what I said. I said "gun laws have never stopped a mass shooting", which is demonstrably true. Not every gun crime is a mass shooting, regardless of how the media wish to portray them.

Well, it is a demonstrably true statement that gun laws do not stop gun crimes.

Yes, but your argument, both of you, was that there was a shooting, so therefore gun laws are worthless and should be discarded. Ipso facto, they are only useful if there are no shootings ever.

A real argument is whether gun laws greatly reduce the number of shootings. Which it clearly does, so you avoid that argument like the poison that truth is to you.

Actually, no--I already know and accept that gun laws reduce the overall number of shooting events...but I don't care about the overall number of shooting incidents. I care much more about retaining the freedom to own guns. More people die every year in the United States as a result of "accdients" (about 165,000) than as a result of gun violence (I have those numbers saved on a different computer; will have to look them up later).

People who want to restrict guns live in fear of guns. I don't live in fear...of anything.

LOL

Yes people still commit homicides despite that being a crime 😉 people still steal despite that too being generationally criminalised, some people still speed and run red lights and fail to register their vehicles despite strict regulatory framework applicable to owning and using a motor vehicle.

Id wager some Asia pacific communities that have lax regulatory frameworks re vehicle registrations and regulations - they encounter high mortality and accident rates re road traffic incidents.

Technically, I don't fear them, either, even though I am wary of their goals. They are to be opposed, not feared.
