didn't want to post bad news on the how do you feel posting.

julie's dad got really sick this weekend and was put on a breathing tube. well today at some point they are taking him off of it. they may also dc the drips for his bp. so we have taken this week off.

he is in his 80's and has been sick for a very long time, but it is still hard for her. having gone through this i can understand what she is feeling.

so prayers and well wishes are appreciated on her behalf.

Edward Calvin Addis, 82, of Angleton, Texas died peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 surrounded by loved ones. Ed was born May 4, 1924 to LaVern and Jessie Julia (Green) Addis in Los Angeles, California where his father led an orchestra, the LaVern Harmonics. He tried his hand in acting (including a walk-on part in the Martha Raye movie, “Navy Blues”) and baseball (good enough to be granted a try out with the St. Louis Cardinals) before heeding his country’s call to duty.
As a member of the greatest generation, Ed was very proud to have served his country in World War II. He enlisted twice in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Colorado at Noumea, New Caledonia in the South Pacific. He also served on two LSTs (Landing Ship, Tank) and a Subchaser. He participated in the liberation of Guam and the Phillipines and fought at Okinawa.
After the war, he settled in Houston, Texas where he met the love of his life, his “little lady” of 48 years, Lou. They were married September 15, 1957. In 1973, they moved to Angleton where Ed worked for subcontractors at Dow and then the Brazoria County Parks Department. In January 1998, Ed became the first retiree of the Brazoria County Parks Department. He attended Brazosport College and was in the first graduating class of the Angleton Citizen’s Police Academy.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, his little angel, Susan Lynn Addis, a daughter, Carolyn Flowers, a son-in-law, Jim Flowers and his grandson, Clinton Colson. He is survived by his wife, Lou, whom he cherished and who loved him dearly. He is also survived by his children, Patricia Sabol and husband Andy of Corpus Christi, Charles Bosshamer and wife Bonnie of Spring, Vickie Rayne and husband Steve of Houston, Jimmy Bosshamer and wife Mary Anna of Houston, Tayna Schmidt and husband Lowell of Cat Spring and Julie Wood and husband Dennis of Angleton. Also, his grandchildren, Barry Egbert and wife Minda of Austin, Andrew Sabol II and wife Shaun of Corpus Christi, Gary Seidel and wife Bridgette of College Station, Lee Flowers and wife Jeanette of Houston, Tina Glenn and husband David of Houston, Bronson Flowers and wife Missy of Cleveland, Denson Flowers and wife Jennifer of Ft. Hood, Joseph Magee and wife Dawn of Louisana, John Colson of Cat Spring and Nathaniel Champney of Las Vegas, Nevada and 16 great-grandchildren.
He will be missed by many who knew him and loved him. He had a great sense of right and wrong. He was proud to be an American and instilled that pride in his children. He loved the Lord and we know that he will be waiting for us to join him in Glory.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Palm’s Funeral Home, Angleton. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2006 at the Chapel in Palms Funeral Home with graveside services and interment to follow at Angleton Cemetery.
